Liberty Global Conference at Stirling Castle, Scotland
Here are some of my favourite shots from an event I shot at Stirling Castle last month. This gala dinner was the climax to an internal conference for international cable company Liberty Global.
Guests enjoyed a glass of bubbly on the lawns and a tour of the castle by costumed historical figures before being piped in to tuneful bagpipes for a wonderful 3 course meal in The Great Hall, which was built for James IV around 1503. It was part of a huge building programme at the castle designed to provide a setting for major royal gatherings and to impress his new queen, Margaret Tudor. Stirling Castle is located in Stirling and is one of the largest and most important castles, both historically and architecturally, in Scotland.
After dinner speaker Midge Ure gave a fascinating talk on his life and Band Aid before guests were piped out of the castle by a full military band.
James “Midge” Ure OBE is a Scottish musician and singer-songwriter famous for being the lead singer in Ultravox and one of the founders of Band Aid and Live Aid.
